Sophy Gray Memorial Gathering
On Thursday, 8 August 2019 we hosted the first Sophy Gray Memorial Gathering for Georgian Girls (developing the women of the world). The gathering showcased some of our OG Girls and helped to build relationships across the generation divide.
Thank you to Donna (Boyd) Galloway (OG 2002), Nzinga Qunta (OG 2001), Michelle Basson (OG 2004) and Ayesha Camroodien (2012) for making the time to spend the day with the Girls of the Future and sharing their stories and experiences. The young ladies were very engaged with the Old Georgians and the feedback has been extremely positive.
Plans are on the way for the 2020 gathering, Save the date and keep an eye out for the invitations for the next event.
Donna (Boyd) Galloway (OG 2002) matriculated with an exemption. She was the first hard of hearing person to join St George’s Grammar school from the Dominican Grimley School for the Deaf in Hout Bay. She shared her journey on how she joined SGGS and how it shaped her life to where she is now.
Ayesha Camroodien (OG 2012), currently completing a Masters Degree in Business Finance at UCT.
Michelle Basson (OG 2004) who studied Sports Science, then worked in the events field and is currently working in the social media.
Nzinga Qunta (OG 2003) is a business news anchor on SABC News Channel. She has a law and English literature degree from Wits University and is an LLB Candidate.
