Grade 8 Induction History Tour
Entering High School can be a daunting prospect. The OGU welcomed the incoming Grade 8 students on Wednesday, 18 January with the Annual Induction History Tour where we take a journey in the footsteps of generations of Georgians and pay homage to their legacy and traditions. Thank you to Old Georgians Jamie Haupt (OG 2004T), Saskia Bormans (OG 2020T) and Melissa Jones (OG 2016T) for popping in during the tour to welcome the new Grade 8s with reflections on their time at SGGS and some comforting words to settle them in. The new intake visited sights across the campus to mark moments in the long history of the school, sharing insights into the people behind the names on the buildings and the dedication of Georgians to making St George's what it is today. The tour took the Grade 8s to St Saviours church to pay respects and to give thanks at the graves of Robert and Sophy Gray, then onto St George's Cathedral to the old Sir Herbert Baker school building, remembering all Georgians who have gone before in a moment of silence in the old school quad under the majestic Cathedral rose window. The Old Georgian Union wishes the incoming Grade 8 class well during their time at St George's Grammar School. Welcome!
