Jenny Mallett
A Book about Jenny Mallett
Jenny died two years ago, on 17 April 1999. She was only 48. By modern norms, hers was short life - yet the impact that she had on thousands of people was enormous. With the much appreciated assistance of her mother, the two compilers, who knew her well, collated the memories of thousands of people whose lives she touched and influenced.
Reminiscences and anecdotes are full of inspiration and often hilarious. They reflect the extraordinary diversity of her skills and interests and cover many areas of her busy life.
As someone wrote: "I was never a pupil of Jen's, but I learned so much from her about teaching, living, loving and caring. We all got to experience that growl at times, but inside her was the biggest marshmallow filled with love".
The Compilers
John Gardiner taught at Bishops when Jen's father, Anthony, was Principal. In 1988 he in turn became Principal there and, in retirement, has served on the Board (for some years as Chairman) of St George's.
Paul Cannon was Headmaster of St George's from 1984 - 1997. When he arrived, Jenny had been teaching there for eleven years; in 1995 he appointed her Principal Teacher of the Preparatory School.
