Back row: D Dodge, R Simmonds, D Howie, Smith, P Coyne, D Goslett. Owing to war-times shortages, pupils were allowed to wear khaki shirts and shorts. The building behind is the "crypt classroom". The window on the right had a broad sill where a boy could "keep chips" while the rest of the Std 5 class did what they wished until a teacher approched
